I just returned from camping with my boys. What a great time we had! Aside from the challenge of pitching a tent by myself, there is nothing I’d change about our special time together.
I brought their homeschool materials along. How awesome was it to be able to learn outside at the picnic table. I wish I had brought a camera. Watching them make paper rainbows, while sitting outside was so sweet.
Our read alouds were my favorite. We are currently reading "The Tales of Winnie the Pooh" and some other books. We read them while sitting in camping chairs, or while laying in the tent. It was pretty idyllic.
One of the things that really warmed my heart was witnessing the boys at play by themselves. It used to be that when they played together, "A" would have them re-enact something from a plot they saw on TV. But, during this trip, they would re-enact a plot from books we have read. I overheard them re-enacting "Going on a Bear Hunt" and "Corduroy".
I also overheard "A" reciting scripture to his brother, and "R" would parrot it back.
We spent alot of time playing along the river. The boys adore throwing rocks. We also spent some time at a community pool that has a fabulous kiddie pool where I was able to play in the water with both the boys at the same time.
