We doubled our lesson today. We also had our little buddy, ‘O’, with us.
Fingerplay
"What do you know?"
Bible Story
1 Kings 11:1-2, 9-12, 16:60, 17:1-4
Children’s Bible: Solomon worshipped an idol and the story of Elijah
Active Exploration
We talked about the concept of pairs- things that come in two.
I had the boys follow a pair of actions:
1. step left and right
2. jump forward and backward
3. Reach high and low, etc…
Letter Activity
We reviewed the letters A-L. Both boys were able to correctly identify all the letters.
Bible Activity
I had a puppet that represented ‘Solomon’. I was Solomon’s "wives". I would tempt Solomong away from his God and over to my God. The boys shouted to Solomon, "No! No! Don’t do it Solomon!"
Music
‘Solomon’, ‘Listen to Wisdom’, ‘Elijah’
Math Activity
I mixed three food items together (wheat thins, goldfish, and pretzels). The boys pretended to be the ravens that fed Elijah and had to separate the food items into three individual containers. It took everything they had to not eat until the lesson was complete!
I also used the Goldfish to show how to count by 1’s, 2’s, and 3’s…
Letter Activity
I pulled out the letter ‘M’ flashcard and the boys studied it.
