Lesson 12/19/06

Fingerplay
"This Little King"

Bible Story
2 Chronicles 24:1-4, 13, 17-18
Children’s Bible-Joash fixed the temple.

Active Exploration
This is a picture that I took for Halloween.  Our church had a ‘Harvest Fest’ and I decorated the car for "Trunk or Treat".  I created a "castle" and my boys were the knights.  (Why am I posting this now?  Read on…)

(The back of my minivan…Boys keeping warm and not guarding the castle!!)

(The "knights" that were to guard the castle…)

OK, fast foward to today…

I took a wall of the ‘castle’ that I had stored away, and voila!, turned it into the Lord’s temple!  I added some "cracks" to the temple to represent the direpair the temple was in during Joash’s reign.  In the Bible story, Joash had repaired the temple and destroyed all the idols that were in the temple.
I made a paste out of cornmeal and warm water and had the boys spackle the paste over the cracks to fix the temple.

Letter Activity
‘A’ practiced writing the letter ‘N’.  ‘R’ practiced holding a pen and "writing"

Math Activity
The boys played ‘Fishy Count’ online math game at Primarygames.com

Music
Played and sang to "Oh, Israel Turn Back to God"
