Fingerplay "This Little King"
Bible Story
Ezra 9:9-10, 13-14
Children’s Bible: The people rebuilt their temple
Dramatic Play
I placed items before the boys, representing something:
-orange=the sun
-a toy person=a king
-a Miss Butterworth’s syrup bottle=a statue
-coins=money
I took each items and asked if we worshiped the sun, the king, etc. and the boys responded each time, "no, we only worship God."
(This activity ties into the story where Ezra helps the people return to God and turn away from their idols.)
Letter Activity
The boys drew the letter ‘N" (I assisted "R")
I also drew an outline of the letter ‘N’ and the boys filled it in with playdough.
Bible Activity
I asked: "The people of Israel disobeyed God and were punished. Have you ever disobeyed?"
"A" said: ‘No, I have never disobeyed"
I asked: "What have you ever done that was wrong."
"A" responded: "I don’t do anything wrong."
Well, I was supposed to talk about the concept of forgiveness and how to ask for forgiveness from God, but I focused more on the difference between right and wrong actions and attitudes.
