We got a pretty late start today with our home-based homeschool activities. In the morning, we went to Friday morning Bible study. The boys went into their own class. Then, after lunch, we met up with a friend of mine, Lisa, and her two boys, J1 (age 5) and J2 (age3), at the park. The boys rode their bikes on one court while we played tennis on the other. The rain and the attention spans of our children made for a short game, but we still had fun, nonetheless.
We officially started Sonlight Core B today (our new curriculum)! I really should have waited until Monday, but I was too excited to start. The boys were pretty tired and I could tell I was on borrowed time, but I plugged along anyway. We did not finish everything, though. It was just too late to start structured activities for us (around 3:30pm). We need to do this in the morning.
Memory Verse for the Week
Proverbs 4:20: "Pay attention, my child, to what I say. Listen carefully."
We talked about ‘attentiveness‘ (which is a bit ironic, considering they were half-asleep!)
Read Aloud
Old Mother Goose rhyme
The Mouse and the Lion
The Poky Little Puppy
A poem from Eric Carle’s Animals Animals
Science
We learned that there are four seasons in a year
that there are twelve months,
and that the first day of the year is January first.
Social Studies
We read from a page from ‘Things People Do". We learned about many different occupations people have to run a city (mayor, council members, sanitation workers, engineers, etc.)
Music
We sang "This Land is Your Land" in the car.
Thanks for dropping by my blog. It's always good to hear from you. I'm glad that you had a really nice day at the park with your friend. Those are the days that nice memories are made.
Sonlight…I use some of their material (not the whole package) and I really like it, too.
Antoinette
looks like you got a good amount accomplished!
Sounds like a great day to me!
We are starting our first sonlight journey too. Core 6!
For littles we will be using Little hands to heaven in the fall, if I can wait that long!
ooooooohhhhh I"m contemplating Sonlight this year…have fun and enjoy it!
