(We doubled our coursework today…)
Bible
God stopped the Jordan River from flowing so the people could cross unharmed.
Memory Verse
James 5:8 "Be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near."
Read Aloud
Mother Goose- "Cock a Doodle Doo’ and ‘Goosey, Goosey, Gander’
‘Selfish Sand Frog’
‘Guess Who Lives Here’
‘Eric Carle’s Animals Animals-Bear and Fox’
Language Arts
Developing the Early Learner- Auditory/Rhyming-The boys looked at a picture of a stick and had to pick items that rhymed with it. Both did well.
Comprehension/Language-The boys had to pick the picture that ended the sentence properly. Both got all correct.
Science
BB Book of Science and Nature- We read the introduction to the nature part of the book.
Social Studies
‘Things People Do’-We read about the Garage Owner and all the people it takes to run a garage.
Character
‘Right Choices’-We read about honoring your parents and the importance of being polite.
Life Skills
‘365 Manners…’- We read that it is OK to remove foreign matter in food (eggshell, hair, etc.) and place it on the plate (hair, you place on the floor or napkin). You can chose to eat the remaining food, or not, but do not bring the offending item to anothers attention, unless at a restaurant. We also read that you hold a tumbler at the bottom and not the rim.
Math
Singapore Earlybird 1B-Lesson 8-Counting and writing of numerals 1-10. Both are fantastic with counting, the writing is weak.
Reading
‘A’ read Bob Book Volume 2, Book 2 ‘Bump!’
You are such an inspiration!!!! I love to see how much you all get done 🙂
do you have the boys read the books until they can successfully read each one alone before moving on? I'm curious because we've been reading "SAM" (book 2) for almost two weeks now…and am personally tired of it. Alex can read most of it but I do see her just saying words {out of order} because she's memorized the sentence. Thoughts?
