Lesson 7/24/07

Bible
‘Children’s Everyday Bible’-There was a king named Jabin who treated the Isaelites poorly.  Barak gathered a small army and had Deborah help him time the attack (with God’s help).  The Israelites won.
There was no leader for the Israelites, so God tapped Gideon, a farmer, to rise and lead.

Memory Verse
I Corinthians 14:40 "Let all things be done decently and in order."

Read Aloud
Mother Goose- We read page 88 (5 different rhymes)
‘Two Sisters’

Language Arts
DEL-Auditory/Memory-I gave two-three  commands and the boys had to wait one minute before executing those 2-3 commands. ‘A’ has mastered this; ‘R’ can get half right.

Character
‘Right Choices’-We read about being a responsible pet owner.

Life Skills
‘365 Manners’-We read about the distinction of being a gentleman:  They:

  • Hold the door for others
  • Let girls go first
  • Help carry heavy items
  • take hat off at appropriate times (dinner table, church, bed)
  • speak to the parents of friends
  • no cursing
  • let others leave elevator first
  • help another woman take off her coat
  • offer a hand to shake when introduced.

We also read about sitting and standing tall, and practiced both.
