We spent two nights at the KOA Campground in Leavenworth.  This KOA is great for families because it is secure and safe.  Our site was by a big, grassy field, and the kids were able to run all they wanted.
Here is ‘A’ and ‘R’ playing in the sprinkler…

We played along the river.  Here is ‘W’ after she decided she had enough of that cold water!

Roasting hot dogs, a requirement of camping…

This KOA has a playground for the kids to enjoy…

We went to Smallwood’s Harvest.  They have a little field of wood cut-outs for the kids to play with, a very nice mercantile, and a petting zoo.

Interesting to note: We had a bag of carrots to feed the animals.  I held a carrot for some chickens to peck at.  A couple pecked at one end, but they barely touched it.  Then, I went to a pen that had the funniest looking long-haired goat and a llama.  The goat smelled the carrot and would not eat it.  The llama smelled the carrot, grunted and me in disdain, and would not eat it.  I tried to get them to eat it a few times, but they wanted nothing to do with it.  I could tell, though, that they wanted to eat something.  So, I turned the carrot around and the llama ate it without complaint.  Picky, picky…

Leavenworth has a fantastic public community pool.  One third of it is a kiddie pool.  We spent a few hours playing here…

‘R’ loved playing in the pool, but got a little sleepy and decided to take a break…

Success!  Finally, after four visits to this pool, ‘A’ is no longer afraid of the big mushroom waterfall!

What a great trip. Looks like there was plenty to keep the kids busy. Hope it was relaxing for you as well!

I REALLY enjoyed seeing all these fantastic pictures. I want to close to you. 🙂 The picture of the children roasting hot dogs is so cute, that is on my list of things the children must do one day. You see, I'm TERRIFIED of camping. It's not so much the bugs, but all those kidnapping stories I've heard. (am i nuts, or what?). I don't want my children to miss out on such fun times, so I really need to get over it. Thanks for sharing so many awesome pictures. I'm in awe. 🙂
