This past week

It all started out great!  Monday, I took the boys on a massive grocery shop spree to Trader Joe’s and PCC.  ‘A’ accidently turned the grocery cart in it with ‘R’ in the seat.  Both boys were traumatized by it, but there were no injuries.  Everyone around me was awesome.  They put my cart back up and placed all items back in the cart while I tended to my boys.  Trader Joe’s offered ice packs (we declined. Ice packs are more tramatic to my boys than the event!), and gave the boys each their own bottle of water.  We were able to finish shopping with no additional drama.  ‘A’ was more embarrassed than anything and was afrai he would be in trouble.

Later that afternoon, ‘A’ and ‘R’ began swim lessons. They are doing this Mondays and Wednesdays now.  Both are doing very well.  They are getting used to getting wet and putting their faces in the water.  I have pictures from Wednesday, but my friend has my camera.  When I get it back, I will post them.

Tuesday morning, the boys went to my mom’s and I went to the hospital to visit my girlfriend Lacey who is 23 weeks pregnant with quads.  She’s on bed rest and will be in the hospital until the babies are born.
Tuesday afternoon, my mother’s helper, ‘D’, (from the Schott Academy), came over and I was able to get some cleaning accomplished.

My brother and nieces came over, and I invited them to dinner.  As I was cooking dinner, DH said he needed to drive to Everett to check out his Dad.  Al had not answered his emails or phone all day, and DH was concerned.  He found him in a delirious condition.  DH called 911 and he was rushed to the hospital.

It turns out that he is in liver failure and has an infection in his leg.  Because the liver could not adequately flush the toxins of the infection, his body was poisoning itself and affecting his brain.  Now that he has antibiotics on board and the infection is under control, his mental capacity is back.  This is great news!  However, the liver failure is not reversible and DH and Al talked to Hospice yesterday to begin arrangements for care.

DH has been shuttling between our place and Everett since Tuesday.  He is exhausted, but is standing strong.  Please pray for DH and Al during this difficult time.

Wednesday, the boys began a soccer playgroup.  I can’t wait to get pictures posted for this!  There is a group of about ten boys.  The focus is to learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and basic soccer skills/drills.
C1 and C2 are in the group, as well as J.  That afternoon, the boys had swim lessons.  I was so proud of them.  They obeyed well and did everything that was asked of them, even though ‘R’ was a little scared at times.  I had two meetings that evening, but canceled them to stay home with the boys, while DH was with his Dad.

Thursday, we drove to Everett and spent the day with Grandpa Al.  He was doing muich better and really enjoyed the pictures the boys made for him.  We spent most of the day.  I took the back roads in and back, and even though it took a little longer, it was totally worth it.

When I was up there, we went to Orting days. I watched a dad pushing his baby's stroller, he veered to the right slightly and one wheel went off the curb! He didn't have a good grip on the stroller and over it went baby and all. It was very scary. No one was hurt but the baby was scared and dad's pride was damaged (after he got over the fear of his baby being hurt). Ugh..

Poor guys! I'm glad they're okay and how nice that everyone was so attentive.

Wow, what an instinct (and/or God!) your hubby had to go check on his dad! That could've turned out badly. I'll be praying for the both of them.

Sounds like a busy week for you!

So about the fair- call me totally clueless, but do you mean that it's common to have things stolen there!? Argh! Well, now I know.

    Love, Alyssa

p.s. will you be going to the fair this year?
