(Workshop at the 2008 Christian Heritage Home Educators of Washington conference)

-read mission biographies together or buy them for your teens to read

-break out of the bubble-read about the current events of the world

-focus on learning about different countries and cultures

-Missions can be a fun adventure.  It does not have to be overseas.  You can support the administrative efforts of a local mission. (Serve in homeless shelters, soup kitchens, etc.)

-Parents can raise the awareness in their children, but the child needs to have it in tehir heart to serve others.

-be an example and live the way you want them to live.

-Go on a family mission instead of a vacation.

-Let your children see poverty; do not shelter them from it.

-10 degrees to 40 degrees north of the equator are most of those who have never even heard of Jesus.
