Superbowl Sunday

What a day!  I started it by running the Superbowl Sunday 10k in Sacramento!  It was a gorgeous day for a run and was along the river.  I was able to run the whole thing, sloooooooowly…

After the run, I met up with David and the boys, and our friends in our small group to serve at the homeless day shelter, the Broderick Christian Center in Sacramento.

Rob is practicing with the kids who sang for the guests we served lunch to…

Setting the table.  We created the menu (spaghetti and meatballs, rolls, green salad, cookies, satsumas), made the meal, and served the lunch.  There were about 50 people and we had enough for seconds and some to take with them as well.  Lori and Katie are in the back, folding clothes.

This is my friend, Ginger (me in the background.)  This is probably the closest in getting her to take her picture!

The two Daves…

This is the Center’s cat.  The boys loved it that she stuck out her tongue!

We met some wonderful people who enjoyed the meal we offered.   One man was picked up by the police while hopping off a train and taken straight to the Center.  We were his first meal in Sacramento.  He has a large army bag that has the names of all the cities has been in.  There are quite a few.  He rides the rails and is headed to Wisconsin to be with family.

There were families as well.  It is humbling, and I am thankful to be in the position to serve in this way.

After we cleaned up after lunch, we all went to Lori and Dan’s for Superbowl.  The weather was great and the kids played outside until it got too cold…

Two cuties (E and A), playing dress up…

This is ‘A’.  Isn’t he adorable?  He wanted me to film him "flying".  I talked him down a few steps before he jumped…

Most of our group was happy to see the Saints win…Yay!  David started to not feel well during the game, and I was starting to go down as well.  We ended up spending Monday through Wednesday in bed, sick with a nasty cold (David had a fever, too.).  We are both still feeling it, but not as bad.  My cough acts up a bunch at night…
