I have been running (I use this term loosely) 5k’s on and off for many years. We decided it would be a good time to introduce the kids to the joys of organized runs. So, we went into “training” two weeks ago, and began running as a family every night at 9pm. This is a good time because it is not too hot, and it sets the kids up well for a good night sleep. We began by running as far as we could, for as long as we could. At the beginning, this was about a third of a mile before we had to walk. Now, the boys can run one mile in about 13 minutes! I will run an additional mile to 1.5 miles after on the treadmill.
Today, we ran in the Susan B. Anthony 5k! David ran with the boys in the kids half mile. They both ran the whole way! I did the 5k and was able to “run” it in 41 minutes. After not having ran for a while, I am definitely back at square one.
Warming up with some one handed push ups. ‘A’ saw someone doing this once and thinks it’s the coolest thing…
Starting out…
‘A’ making a strong finish. You can see David and ‘R’ in the background…
‘R’ also finishing strong!
So proud of their medals…
Proud Papa…
Proud Mama!
How awesome! They sure do look proud of their medals!
And now you have inspired me to get out and run with my kids! 🙂
