A Personal Treasure

I want to share with you a personal treasure.  It is something I only see through the Christmas season, and something I will always cherish.

This is the Nativity set that belonged to my grandparents.  I remember rearranging the figures while at their house.  They were special to me as a child, and now, I get to share them with my boys.  I have it placed on the mantle, but am thinking about making it more accessible, so they can enjoy moving the figures around like I did.  I love this incredible visual reminder of the reason for Christmas.  I also love having this visual joy as a reminder for my grandmother, who has passed on.  (And someday, my Grandpa; although I suspect he’s going to outlive us all 🙂  I hope I inherited his healthy, longevity genes …Norwegian blood, I’m sure.)

By the way, this is the memory verse the boys and I are working on…

Isaiah 9:2-6 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light, on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned…For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (This was written by the prophet Isaiah around 701BC…)
