I had been to Chinatown and expected Japantown to be similar. I was surprised to discover how different it was, and not in a bad way. Japantown does not have the open markets, or the ornamentation on the buildings that Chinatown has, but the cool Japan centric shops are set within three or four small malls (we went into two).
I have always appreciated the Japanese sense of order…
A mural inside one of the malls…
I like the name os this place…
We went into a store that had a bunch of swords and weapons. We bought the boys each a wooden samurai sword. ‘R’ slept with his and unfortunately rolled over it and broke it…
We did not eat here, but it is a neat restaurant with little boats that go around the tables. When you want the dish, take it from the little boat…
An incredible bookstore, most of which is all in Japanese….
We learned that Japanese books are printed to open from the “back”, and the writing is up to down, right to left….
Showing off their swords…
