My friend, Bev’s, youngest child, ‘E’, was serving as a camp counselor for a YWAM (Youth with a Mission) camp near Chico, CA. She wanted to visit her, and since I had never been and love to explore, we decided to go on a day trip to Chico!
This is the YWAM camp, called ‘Richardson Springs’. It used to be an upscale hotel, situated on hot springs, and people would go there to sit and soak.
Playing in an old telephone booth with a real live telephone!
Awesome display over the fireplace…
Bev joined ‘E’ while she was doing an activity with her kids…
Incredible ‘E’. I want to be her when I grow up…
One of the nasty smelling warm springs that is obviously no longer being taken care of…
Picking blackberries with Bev…
We drove into the town of Chico and while shopping, I asked the retail clerk what we should see while in Chico with kids. She steered us to this cute toy/clothing/ stationary/etc. store. In the back is a yo-yo shop/yo-yo museum. This clerk is a master yo-yo competing artist, with his own playing/trading card, and video! He was great with the boys and talked with them while I shopped.
The world’s largest yo-yo. We saw pictures of this going off the Golden Gate Bridge! They use a crane for it…
A late lunch at ‘Madison Bear Garden’…the place apparently gets pretty crazy at night when college is in session, but during the day in the summer…no problem…
yes…those are shoes on the antlers…
yes, that’s a wagon on the ceiling…
On the trip back, we saw a sign for ‘Alligator Jerky’. We have a standing joke with our friends, the Smiths, and just had to get some ‘gator’. It’s actually quite yummy! The boys loved it, too!
