It was expected to be 100 degrees today. Fortunately, I had a hike planned with friends. What a perfect day it was for hanging by the river!
Of the three hikes we have done this season, this is my favorite. Just outside of Grass Valley, it ‘s a pretty easy drive, and the perfect trail for the kids.
At the trailhead…
This is a “rim” trail that overlooks the South Yuba River. The views were amazing and the photos do not do it justice.
Kendra and her boys!
On the trek back, ‘A’ found some snakeskin!
Heading back down to the river for some swim time!
The perfect swim hole.
In the background is the Bridgeport covered bridge. Built in 1862, it is one of the oldest housed spans in the west and the longest single-span wood-covered bridge in the United States.
After the hike, we drove to the lovely town of Nevada City for an ice cream treat before heading home!
