Veteran’s Day 2013

A wreath laying ceremony to honor Veteran’s Day at the Aerospace Museum of California near Sacramento.  We arrived a little early and looked around a bit.  They had a flight simulator that the boys and I went on.  It highlighted many different fighter planes over the years.

The wreath laying service had a few speakers.  They had such a large turnout, they added more chairs, and it was still standing room! I am glad he boys got to experience this.

After the service, we went to the back to see planes!  There were a bunch of wonderful docents who shares their knowledge.  They were all retired veterans, and enjoyed speaking with the boys.

This plane flew in WW2, then was sold to a commercial airline.  The airline then sold it to a private owner, who turned it into a drug running plane.  It was confiscated by the DEA and was donated to the museum.IMG_4330 IMG_4332 IMG_4333

This plane shuttled dignitaries.  It served as “Air Force 1” for some of California governors.

This wonderful man may or may not have shared how they obtained this Russian mig.  He also may or may not have shared with us about his time at Area 51, which we all know doesn’t exist… IMG_4359 IMG_4362 IMG_4367 IMG_4369

We wrote notes of encouragement in Christmas cards that are then sent to soldiers stationed overseas.IMG_4373 IMG_4374
