I am currently training for my first (only?) marathon. Training with friends makes it much more enjoyable and helps with enduring when it gets hard.
This run hot hard for me. I ran/walked (i do 3 minute run/1 minute walk intervals) a solid 13 miles, then my body said “now walk”. I had to pretty much walk the last five miles. THAT was brutal.
Went back to the board to look at pace, fuel, etc.
Our long runs have take place along the American River Parkway. It’s a lovely, flat route along the river. One can run, walk, ride bikes for miles.
