Tying in a girls weekend, at a great destination, with a race is the BEST!!
Gloria arrived early afternoon in Santa Rosa and met up with Sally. We picked up our bibs and drove to Railroad Square Historic district of Santa Rosa. They have cute ‘Peanuts’ sculptures throughout the town…
We drank coffee and sparkling water (fanceeee….) at Flying Goat Coffee, then an afternoon of shopping.
Teresa joined us for an Italian dinner at Volpi’s in Petaluma. It’s an old family restaurant that used to be a grocery during the depression. In the back (now their bar) was a speakeasy. A family friendly restaurant with an impressive display of vintage accordions. Service was excellent and the food was decent.
The four of us spent the night at Sally’s cousin’s house. We played “Spicy Farkel“. It’s a good thing Sally knew how to play to help us score. I was confused. We went to bed early in hope of getting a good night sleep for the race. Teresa was running the full marathon and had to get up earlier. We all got up with her. Made it less stressful for us getting ready.
Before the race…we joined some other MRTT friends and started the race together. Some of them sped up after the first three miles and we did not see them the rest of the race. The weather was P.E.R.F.E.C.T. The route…lovely. Everything was exactly what you would want in a race. This was my second time running this race. The first time was crazy hot. This one was so much better.
About four miles in…
Rounding the corner at mile 13. We are excited to be almost done!
Friends for life!
