I gave the boys some paper and marker to draw with. 'A' (age 3) just handed me a page that had the letter 'A' written all over it! He can write the letter 'A'!
Should I encourage him to write additional letters in his own, or should I purchase a handwriting curriculum? I was not planning on introducing handwriting for another year, but he is interested in it. I also don't want him to create bad habits we will ahve to break later. What to do?

Since he’s just 3, I wouldn’t push a handwriting curiculum on him. I think that would take any fun out of it. You should definitely show him the proper way to form the letters, but then let him go to it. Your encouragement will keep him motivated to keep trying!!

Way to go on writing A a A a A a A – what a great start!!!!!!! I agree with no pressure, but don’t stop if he is motivated – it might be his brain-link time for writing – so don’t miss the time frame if he is ready. Handwriting Without Tears has a great preparatory program that can be used all the way through. http://shopping.hwtears.com/ HWOT has readiness, printing and cursive and is super simple and fun for homeschooling. Not too long before he is writing and illustrating stories of his own.
