Theme:
We finally finished our 'Apple' Lapbook! Our final activity was to make crockpot applesauce. Here are some pictures of the boys weighing the apples and stirring the ingredients together.
Fingerplay:
“Nothing is impossible for God.” (Introduce the letter 'I')
Bible Story:
Scripture: Judges 7:5-7, 16:2-3
Children's Bible: We read about Samson and his strength, and about Gideon and how God told him to choose his army by the way the men drink from the river.
Active Exploration/Spanish:
The boys looked in a mirror and pointed out parts of their body. I told them what the names were in Spanish:
hair-pelo
eyes-ojos
eyebrows-cejas
nose-mariz
mouth-boca
ears-orejas
stomach-estomago
fingers-dedos
knees-rodillas
toes-dedos de pie
Letter Activity:
I introduced the letter 'I/i' with flashcards. The boys traced them with their fingers and repeated the long and short sounds. (Ice cream and Indian)
They also did the “Hide and Seek” worksheet. 'A' got them all correct without assistance. 'R' was not feeling well and went to lay down, so he did not complete it.
'A' also practiced writing lower case 'f'.
Bible Activity
I directed 'A' to make a wavy line to represent a river. 'A' kept making large “waves”. Then, he was to make a pink smiley face to represent the men at the river. Then, I traced his hand and 'A' circled it to represent God telling Gideon to choose the ment who drank with their hands, instead of putting their faces in the river and lapping like dogs.
We are also working on memorizing 'The Ten Commandments'
Music:
Played and sang, “They were Judges”
Math Activity
I placed a variety of canned and boxed goods on the floor. The boys were to decide what was lightest to heaviest. They decided this order:
1. Ramen-lightest
2. Fig Newton Box
3. Juice box
4. Macaroni and Cheese
5. Can of beets
6. Corn
7. Squash Soup-heaviest
After weighing everything, the results were:
1. Ramen was lightest at 3oz.
2. Juice box 6.5oz.
3. Mac and cheese 8oz.
4. Beets 9oz.
5. Fig Newtons 12oz.
6. Corn 1lb 2oz.
7. Squash Soup 2 lb 6oz.
