We played this morning at a local park with a friend and her 3 year old daughter. After that, I got my license renewed (almost a month late ). We then had a little lunch and went to the library, where the boys played on the computers. We began our homeschool activities around 1:30pm. I ended up having to scrap "Teach your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons". "R" was not tracking at all. I knew I was pushing it with class in the afternoon…
Bible
No story today. I intoduced the new memory verse.
Memory Verse
We reviewed Proverbs 4:20 and Hebrews 11:1.
New verse: 2 Corinthians 9:7 "God loves a cheerful giver."
Generosity:I share my things with a cheerful spirit.
Read Aloud
‘Mother Goose’: I read a few of the more obscure ones. Can’t recall the names. We randomly picked from the book.
‘Tiger Tries to Cheat’
‘Butterfly’ in Eric Carle’s Animals Animals
‘The Relatives Came’
Language Arts
Developing the Early Learner-
Visual/Similarities: The boys had to look at a pair of pictures and decide if they are identical or different. Both got all correct.
Auditory/Similarities-I made two sounds and the boys had to take turns telling me whether they were identical or different. Both got all correct.
Science
Berenstain Bears Book of Science and Nature- We read that April Fools Day is on April 1st and it is a time to play jokes on others.
We also built our butterfly habitat and sent away for our butterfly caterpillars! It could take 3-6 weeks, but I sincerely hope they will come before that! I was researching lapbook projects for a butterfly unit study and think that I can make up a project myself without buying one.
Social Studies
Things People Do-Today we read about "The Builder". We also read about the crew needed to build a house (architect, carpenter, plumber, plasterer, painter, tile man, electrician, landscape architect)
Character
365 Manners…we learned about the two different methods to using the knife and fork, (American and European)
Right Choices-We read about politeness: saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’
Reading
Did not do
Math
Singapore Earlybird 1a: Lesson 9-The boys were inroduced to the concept of a ‘set’ through a variety of worksheets.
