Breakaway is our church’s Vacation Bible School.  This year’s theme is “Arctic Freeze”.  We were tremendously blessed with unseasonably cool weather and enjoyed the activities in the upper 70’s – low 80’s!  I volunteered this year, serving with the Encouragement team.  Our team supported all the volunteers by making and serving beverages and treats and giving out scripture cards.  It was great for me because I was able to visit all the different activities and I got to see my boys enjoy Breakaway!

This was a prop they used during one of the skits.  This igloo is made out of milk gallon bottles!

Our team getting ready to welcome the kids as they enter Rally time.  We blew bubbles, gave high-fives, and cheered them on…

Diane and Me…Diane is our wonderful team leader.  She has led the Encouragement team for the past 12 years!!

Every morning, all the volunteers met for 15 minutes of devotional and prayer.  I am a little late on this picture, but our pastor, Ray, had just acknowledged diane for her service over all the years…

Making blended lemonades…(we also served iced mochas…)

Every year, the Breakaway kids are given a sock to collect spare change.  The money is donated to a charity.  This year, the funds go to support children in India.  they have a fun competition between boys and girls.  This year, the kids collected about $6,000!!  Here are the boys with their socks…

These “igloos” were located all throughout the campus.  This is where the kids met in their small groups.  Each group had about 8-10 kids…

Rally Time…this occurred at the end of the morning, when everyone gathered together in the sanctuary for singing, and watching a skit…
