May 2nd was the National Day of Prayer. The boys and I joined Eric and Crystal to attend the prayer breakfast at William Jessup University. We ended up seated toward the back, but fortunately they had large screens to help us watch the speakers…
WJU President Dr. John Jackson introduced the event.
Finally! Breakfast!! It was a buffet. The boys loved getting their own food. ‘R’ asked how many doughnuts he could have…
I wish I caught a better picture. This is retired WJU President Bryce Jessup. His father is university founder William Jessup.
The prayers begin…
First prayer was by State Senator Jim Nielsen. He prayed for our government.
2nd speaker was by the Dr. Merle Sweitzer, Retired Captain of the Sacramento Sheriff Department. He prayed for the public safety personnel.
3rd speaker was Colonel Kevin Cavanaugh of Beale Air Force Base. He prayed for our military.
4th speaker, Kelly Caldwell, on air personality for the nation radio station KLOVE. She prayed for the media.
5th speaker: Bob Reeve, CFO of Reeve-Knight Construction. He was the general contractor for the WJU expansion project. He said a prayer for the business community.
6th speaker: Dr. Shelly Hoover, Principal of a local middle school. She prayed over our schools.
7th speaker: Too blurry, and I did not write the info down. I am pretty sure that this is a pastor of a local church who prayed for the church community. I feel bad I am not recognizing him properly…
8th speaker: Brian Hass, Youth Pastor for a local church. He prayed for families and youth.
9th speaker: Rev. Joan Smith, Area Director for Teen Challenge. She prayed for the less advantaged.
Keynote speaker. We were blessed to hear the words of Francis Chan, one of our family’s favorite pastors and authors.
This morning was spent in prayer with good friends. It does not get better than this!
