Sole sis Melissa and I co-captained one of the aid stations for the 2021 California International Marathon! My awesome Bible study sisters rallied and help me make 60ish flannel scarves for the volunteers. It was an insane and intense day; but we rocked it out and decided to re-commit for 2022!
My friend Ginger hosted a table for the Women’s Dinner this year. She decorated the table so beautifully and it was overall a lovely evening. Catered dinner. Magnificent music by ‘America’s Got Talent’ artist Sharon Irving.
David and I took ourselves to Grass Valley for the day for an early anniversary treat. 27 years! We bought a bird feeder to enjoy. What a treat it has been to see the variety of birds visit. We had no idea!
Blue Line Arts sponsored a community pumpkin painting at our local mall, spotlighting the contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama. I volunteered for the day. We handed out crates of pumpkins. Kids of all ages painted. It was great.
Ricky is my honorary nephew. I adore him. We were blessed to be invited to his and his lovely bride, Serenity’s, wedding. They had an intimate ceremony and reception at the Indianola Clubhouse.
David and I drove back country roads from Manzanita to Indianola. It was perfect Autumn weather, both directions. Sunshine, but cool, Autumn foliage all around. Winding roads and the smell of earth. It was perfect.
We stayed at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort. I did not have high expectations for this place, but lodging options were limited, especially for staying just one night. This place is gorgeous! It respects the local history and culture and the lodging and casino are two separate buildings. We did not visit the casino side, so for us, it was all a resort mini-getaway. Our room had a lovely view of the grounds and water. We would have stayed a second night, but they do not have room service and we wanted to be lazy in our room and not have to go anywhere. If we go next time, I would plan ahead and pack food.
The wedding was so sweet. They had set up the room so that wherever you sat for the wedding was where you sat for the reception. They both looked amazing, and Serenity had a shimmer to her dress and skin that made her look like a fairy princess. She was stunning to watch. I don’t think any camera could quite capture it. Ricky wore Doc Martins for his shoes and Serenity work some cute white Keds (I don’t recall if she wore them for both wedding/reception or just reception). A fun nod to their personalities and being comfortable through the evening.
Life in transition. The closing of one chapter and the beginning of another. Our homeschool days are over. On to college! Dividing our time between California and Oregon. CALIFOREGON LIVING!
