Here are some photos of my wonderful little bro, Devin, and his girlfriend Amy. I am so happy to see him so happy. She is a precious addition to his life, and to our family.

This will go down as the most unique holiday to date. Due to Covid, we did not host or visit anyone. We spent Christmas in Manzanita. Quiet, with Facetime and Zoom with family.
David made the awesome turkey dinner he had made for Thanksgiving again. It was such a treat.

This incredible human. Our Alex. From his dramatic entrance a month earlier than expected, to his launch into adulthood, he has not ceased to bring joy, drama, and laughter to all who cross his path. He does not do anything half way. His head and heart is all in with whatever he sets out to do. He is creative, opinionated, intense, a force to be reckoned with. He is smart and savvy. He is funny and serious. He is adorable. I am blessed to witness his journey and am grateful to be his mother.

The holiday season is a wonderful, magical time. It is also a time of good food; a constant temptation of too much food. To counter this, I create a challenge for myself to keep active and not gain weight, yet still enjoy what the season has to offer.
This year, I set a goal to brisk walk a 5K everyday from Thanksgiving to New Years. Some of the walks were in CA and some in OR. Some were solo, some were with run/walk friends, and some were with my husband or my boys.
37 days straight. The first 10 days in, my hips hurt. It felt like I had popped something out of joint on my left side. It did not let it deter me, but it did not make those initial walks any easier. I suspect that my body was so used to running, that shifting to the different gait of walking, and also the initial walks were on sand, made my body all confused.
Everything worked itself out and I was able to keep with it. The final few days were windy and rainy, but I had a good raincoat.
Pace improved. I feel stronger and look forward to keeping up with being active in 2021. I don’t have a scale in OR, but feel confident I did not gain weight. Might have lost a little. Definitely firmed up a bit. here’s a few collages from some of the walks…

These beautiful sisters. What a gift from God to have placed me with this wonderful group of women and friends. Each of them is makes this world a better place with their own unique insights, perspectives, humor, intelligence, beauty. We have been sharing life together for 11 years now, (when I moved to CA in 2009), and I am the newest to the group (I think). We have shared numerous joys, and numerous pains. All which tighten and strengthen our bonds of friendship. Whether we gather individually or collectively, we fill each other’s cups with love and the intent to sharpen each other.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34
So much to be grateful for, even in the wonkiest of years….
David and I started our day with a 5K beach walk…
David took the reins and not only made a traditional turkey dinner (using a turkey breast instead of the whole bird), but also did the dishes! We were all spoiled by him this day. Delicious!! All the baked goods were delivered by Rising Tides Bakery. They are wonderful.
He made a couple plates for the peppers to enjoy as well…

I treasure my one one one times with my boys. Especially knowing that our time is numbered with them as they start spreading their wings.
He walked with me to the post office, then we decided to pick up a hot beverage at Manzanita News and Espresso. I introduced him to a chai tea latte. He liked it. I knew he would. He pretty much likes everything. We sat outside and watched the birds bathe in the birdbath/fountain.
Later that afternoon, I took him down to Kelly’s Brighton Marina for crab. He loves crab as much as I do! Due to Covid restrictions, we were not allowed eat at their picnic tables, so we took the crab to a bench on a dock in Nehalem and ate there.
While in Nehalem, I had heard of a place that makes amazing and unique ice cream. We went to Buttercup.
Alex had the pear-gorgonzola ice cream with a rosemary cone. the gorgonzola was a bit too much for either of us and we ended up tossing after a few bites, but we are glad we tried it.
I had the maple marscapone with a spiced pecan cone. DELICIOUS!
They also make about different chowders. We ordered a delicious pumpkin curry chowder with grilled tofu to take home.
