There is a place here called the Opera House. It is one of the original properties during the Gold Rush and the start of the local towns. It is now a bar and dance hall. Every Wednesday, they offer a free dance class and teach a single dance the first hour. Then, the rest of the night is spent dancing the night away of all different line dances.

Me and my sweet friend, Kristine.

All my friends have a bunch of line and ballroom dance experience. They partnered with each other to practice the moves. I learned the one line dance,(the urban funk), then did my best to keep up…we had a blast and I hope to do it again.

Bayside Unleashed!

The boys got to attend our church’s youth weekend “Unleashed”. They had a fantastic time as always!

The Hot Chocolate race is a big national production where the race occurs all throughout the U.S. all year long. A group of us ran this years race in San Francisco.

It was crazy monsoon weather. They ended up shortening the race because they had to close down one of the roads on the route due to safety.

Heather, Mindy, Christi, and I spent the night at the Westin St. Francis. Missy and her husband, Dave, took BART up and went to dinner with us. Dave suggested the Tonga room at the Fairmont and I flipped out. This was a bucket list place for me and I could not wait!

This place did not disappoint. It was all I had hoped for and getting to share it with friends was extra special.

This is a HUGE race, with a ton of people. With so many who bailed due to the weather, I can’t imagine what it would have been like had everyone showed up! We all ran in waves.

My run buddy, Heather, and I. She’s faster than I am but stayed with me anyway. It was a real treat to run with her. In the background where she is pointing are buffalo that live in Golden gate Park!

Running with Alex

I love running with my boys. It’s one of my favorite things to do. It’s extra special when I get them one on one.

Alex decided he wanted to train for a half marathon. This lasted about five runs before deciding he wanted to take a break and rethink this.

Here is one of those runs though. We had a good time.

When I hit 1000 miles for 2016, I hung up my shoes for the rest of the year (about 10 days). This race was my welcome to 2017, a trail race on New year’s Day.

This.is.a.hard.race.

I “only” run the 5K, but it is harder that some of the half marathons I have ran. You run straight down into a canyon, then back up…

This was Eun’s first registered race. She did a terrific job and kept up with our mutual friend Shanti!

The California Half and Full Marathon Series is a series of races throughout California. They create challenges where you try to race a certain number of their races to receive and additional special challenge medal.

I had not given this any thought and had been signing up for races the interested me. But when I took a look and realized that some of the races I had already ran were a part of this series, I decided to be intentional and go for one of their challenge medals. I ended up running seven of their races and received their 7 race challenge medal. It was fun because it took me to some cities I had not been to before and a few of their races were my favorites.

They are now starting series in Oregon and Washington as well!

A wonderful, mellow day! We spent it in pajamas, watching movies.

A Year of Medals

Here is the fruit of my running labor for 2016! Some of these are virtual race medals (you sign up for a race and run it when you want, where you want.)  I won’t be doing as many virtuals in 2017, so my medal collection won’t be as large as this year is. I am proud of my accomplishments for 2016. My goals were to run 6 half marathons. I ended up running 14. I also set the goal to run 1000 miles. I accomplished that as well.

2017 goals are: Run a 30K(18.64 miles), run a Ragnar relay, and (gulp), run a marathon!

Gingerbread Party

My friend Nancy hosted a gingerbread house decorating party. She did a terrific job of setting up snacks, treats, beverages, and all the stuff needed to make gingerbread houses!
