Happy 14th Alex!

Oh how the years go by! Our 14 year old! If you look closely you can see a little peach fuzz on his upper lip.  What?!

Our traditional “eat whatever you want for breakfast” took place…

Gift of a Grandparent Stocking Run

Our run club teamed up with a local nursing home and filled stockings for some of the residents. We had a run prior to dropping off the stockings. It was a sweet morning. I did not meet the woman I filled a stocking for, but I had fun shopping for her. Each resident filled out a “wish list”…

Urban Adventure Quest Round Two

My girlfriends and I have an annual getaway. We typically do a day trip, occasionally an overnighter. It’s a nice time to disconnect from our busy lives and reconnect with each other.

We decided to do the Urban Adventure Quest that I had just done with my friend Grace and our boys. It was a chilly winter day, but sunny and we had so much fun! We finished our adventure with an early dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack!

Walnut Creek Half Marathon

This race completed an incredible running year. I had to run this to receive a special medal that acknowledged the completion of a race series.

Earlier in the year, I decided to go for a race series medal with the California Half and Full Marathon Series. Even though I ended up running a total 0f 14 half marathons in 2016, not all of them were with the series. I received the 7 race medal!

It was wet, rainy, and had a huge multi mile hill that made it a little rough, but there was a nice park that we ran through at the end. My friend Missy live near Walnut Creek and her sister (and one of my running partners) Mindy, and I spent the night at her place. They got up early with me and saw me off, and Mindy was there when I finished. Happy to be finished and receive my series medal.

On to 2017!

Holiday with Grandma Margaret

Grandma Margaret came down to spend her birthday/early Christmas with us.

She took the time to teach the boys and I how to make canned strawberry jam!

We took her to the local Italian restaurant, Via Roma. They are such a wonderful restaurant, with great food and service. The owner sang her Happy Birthday and gave her a piece of tiramisu. Paul and Shannon joined us from Oakland and spent the night.

CIM Aid Station

Our run club hosted the aid station at mile 21 for the California International Marathon.  It was the most perfect weather for a race. Cool and sunny/slightly overcast.

This woman is amazing. She came through our aid station and told me a little bit about herself. Her name is Lien James. Here’s a little inspiration for you… She started running at 50. She is now 65. This is her 112th marathon! Yes, 112….IMG_5592

Beautiful Trail Run

We are so grateful to be living where we do. we live 20-30 minutes from some of the most amazing trails. This was a lovely morning trail run with a bunch of friends. Located in Auburn, CA., I think we ran 10 miles for this one. Then breakfast after at the Flower Farm…

Urban Adventure Quest Sacramento

My friend Grace and I took our boys on an adventure in Sacramento. She found a company called Urban Adventure Quest that has different adventures in cities across the nation. All you need is a smart phone with internet, and someone to  write out the clues/puzzles in a notebook.

Our team name: SUPER MEGA ULTRA PANDA SWAT TEAMimg_5482

The quest is a walking tour that begins near the capitol. There are 17 challenges you figure out. Points are made for correct answers, deducted for incorrect, some and there is an online leaderboard that keeps track of the points.  You can also race for time against other teams. We choose not to race the clock so we could enjoy what we were doing.
